NATIONAL League Basketball action gets underway for the four Limerick teams on Saturday week, October 5, with the opening fixtures providing some exciting line-ups.
Both Limerick men's division one sides will be on the road for their opening fixtures of the year. Limerick Sport Eagles will make the trip to Galway to take on Maigh Cuilinn in their opener in University of Galway Kinfisher court at 7:30pm.
Eagles have signed Cork's Daniel O'Sullivan and American guard Alex Carlisle. Limerick Celtics men's side will also be on the road when they face newly formed National League side Tipp Talons in Scoil Ruain, Killenaule at 6:30pm.
Much like Eagles, Celtics have made key signings in AJ Williams, Abdul Wurie and Chima Obikwelu.
Early bragging rights will be on the line in the Women's Division one league with the opening round fixtures producing a Limerick derby. Limerick Sport Huskies will host Limerick Celtics Ladies in St Munchin's College at 5pm.
Huskies have welcomed back American Scout Frame, who impressed on the court last season, with Orlaith Woods also returning to the squad. National Cup title holders Limerick Celtics have also welcomed a host of players with three of their home grown talent moving up to the National League stage including Laura Gocek, Meabh Purtill and Anna Nealon.
