Londis Adare 10K

IT SEEMED as if spring had arrived when 900 athletes assembled for the 32 nd edition of the tremendously popular West Limerick hosted Londis sponsored Adare 10K last weekend.

And Paul Maloney, of Mallow AC, made the trip from North Cork worthwhile as he took victory in a time of 30:59. He had 31 seconds to spare from Ibrahim Ahmed Samow, of Ennis Track, on 31:30.

Niall Shanahan of An Bru was third and first Limerick man home in 31:38. Fourth was Cathal
McCarrion Donadea in 32:23, with Conor O’Brien fifth overall and also first West Limerick AC
member, receiving the Willie Costello Cup for his efforts.

Clubmates Declan Guina placed seventh in 33:08, while Killian Lynch was eighth in 33:19 and Niall O’Riordan 11th in 33:14 helping West Limerick to 118pts and the Men’s Team victory from second-placed Dooneen.

Sinead O’Connor was a comfortable winner of the Women’s crown in 35:55 for Leevale.

Olympian and local woman Carolyn Hayes was second in 38:02 and claimed the Corn na Mban as first
West Limerick AC lady finisher.

Clubmate Amy Murphy was third in 39:12, while fourth was Grace Fitzgerald in 39:18. Dooneen’s Clare Coleman, fresh from National League success, was fifth in 40:08. in seventh was Pamela Kirby (Bilboa) 41:24.

Tracey Johnson finished eighth (41:39), with Sinead McDermott ninth (41:42) and Anne
MacPhail 13th 43:37 along with Clare Coleman helping Dooneen to 35pts and the Women’s
team title from West Limerick AC who were second on 41.

Kilmallock’s Liz Leonard was 1first O60 Female on 50:23 with clubmate Tony McMahon first O65 male in 46:08.

For An Bru, times included Maurice Hope 43:41, Gerry Prendergast 43:46, Ann Marie O’Connor 51:32 and Helen Hennessey 55:34.  Well done all on fantastic achievements and a fantastic event.

Milford Hospice 10K

Cillian Higgins, of Dooneen AC, took victory in a time of 34:05 with the Moreabbey Milers duo of Sean Landers and Stuart Moloney second and third.

Claire O’Grady, of UL, was the Women’s winner in 39:37. Grace Rynne, of Ennis Track, was runner up,  with Emer O’Mahony, of Dooneen, completing the podium. More than 2000 participants assembled for this most worthy of events at the University of Limerick and thanks go to everyone.

Nenagh Half Marathon

Ava Crean fulfilled expectations by winning in a time of 1:14:16 just a few seconds shy of her U23 National road record. Coach John Kinsella was third Man in 1:10:27.

Shane Eades, of Limerick AC, was seventh in 1:16:08, while Dooneen’s Kieran O’Brien finished 10th in 1:19:00. Kate Murray, of West Limerick, finished in 1:37:41.

Gary Egan, of An Bru, was ninth in the 10K in a time of 37:32.

Munster Indoor Championships

Limerick highlights in Nenagh included two gold medals for Kieran O’Connor, of West Limerick, who won the U19 200m in an excellent time of 23.75 secs and on Sunday took the 60m title in a time of 7:24.

Gyte Andrijauskatie, of Dooneen, won the Girls U16 Shot Put in commanding fashion 11.18m. Maebh Purtill set a new championship record of 14.88m on her way to victory in the U18 Shot Put.

Clubmate Isabael Ni Huigin won the Girls U17 60m in a time of 8:10. The Kilmallock AC U19 Boys Relay team of Ronan Collins, Charlie McCarthy, Gary Buckley and Callum Meyer won gold.

Clubmate Aine Cunningham who won Gold in the U15 60m.

Fixtures

The Dooneen AC hosted Michal Rejmer 10 Mile takes place on Sunday, March 29 in Patrickswell. Enter through Eventmaster, to volunteer contact the club.

The Limerick County 4 Mille and Run Limerick Series 4-Mile takes place on Sunday, March 15 in Castleconnell from 9am.

The Monaleen Cancer Support 10k Fun Run takes place on Sunday, March 22 at 2pm from
Monaleen GAA club, enter through Eventmaster.
