The countdown is on for the return of RTÉ's The Late Late Show to Irish TV screens next month, and fans now have the chance to experience it from the best seat in the house.

RTÉ has opened applications for audience places for the new season, with Patrick Kielty set to welcome viewers back this Autumn for his third year as host.

Each Friday night will see the Down native joined by high-profile guests and live music, all in front of a buzzing studio crowd.

Last season saw a mix of international stars, Irish household names and surprise appearances from stars such as Joe Duffy, Steve Coogan and Rosie O'Donnell.

The broadcaster added: "So, if you would like to be part of our studio audience on Friday nights, simply complete the application form below. If chosen, you will be contacted by a member of our team. You must be over 18 to apply. RTÉ reserves the right of admission.

The news comes just weeks after Kielty and his wife, television presenter Cat Deeley, announced the end of their marriage after nearly 13 years. The couple, who married in Rome in 2012, share two sons.

In a joint statement, they said: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.

"We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected.

"There will be no further comment."

Kielty, who took over the Late Late helm in 2023, has worked across stand-up, television, film and documentaries.

Deeley is known for presenting This Morning, SM:TV Live and So You Think You Can Dance, and continues to work in television in the UK.
