Celine set to dazzle stage at UCH with hope-inspired classical show

Internationally known classical singer Celine Byrne

SOPRANO Celine Byrne is gearing up for her return to Limerick with an exciting performance at the University Concert Hall (UCH) next month.

Accompanied by David Munro on piano, Nicole Hudson on violin, and Siobhan Lynch on cello, Celine will enchant attendees with her powerful voice. Her programme will include beloved classics such as ‘Nella Fantasia,’ ‘O Mio Babbino Caro,’ ‘Danny Boy,’ ‘I’ll Walk with God,’ and ‘Ave Maria.’

Limerick Classical Concert Series 2025 – Celine Byrne in Concert will take place on Saturday, March 9 at 3.30pm. Speaking ahead of the upcoming concert, Celine said she is “looking forward” to it and that she was “delighted” to be asked to sing. “It's always nice to go somewhere where you're warmly greeted, and I love singing for a home audience.

“I don't sing solely classical music so I sing a mixture of music from the world of opera. I also include some songs from musicals, from stage and screen, and some Irish songs. And because this year is decreed by the pope to be the year of hope, I thought it's very fitting to bring a new programme that's based on songs of inspiration and hope,” added Celine.

She always enjoyed singing and moved to Italy for a year when she finished secondary school and heard an opera for the first time. “Then I decided to do as a career... I did my degree in music, and then I went on to do my Master's in music.”

Celine cited singing for the Pope and singing in Covent Garden, London as her career highlights. “Since then, I've been singing all over the world, and I've sung with Andrea Bocelli.”

The Kildare native will perform concerts across the country this year and will sing at some concerts in major US cities such as New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco as part of their Saint Patrick's Day celebrations.

The concert will be broadcast on RTÉ's Lyric FM at a later date and compered by Liz Nolan from the same radio station. Tickets cost €25 and are available on uch.ie.
