Limerick musicians to take stage at festival

Louise Mulcahy from Abbeyfeale

A LIMERICK musician will be among those taking part in Ireland’s largest gathering of trad and folk music.

TradFest presents a stellar line up of nationally and internationally renowned artists, including two Abbeyfeale musicians, Louise and Michelle Mulcahy.

Louise began playing the tin whistle at age 5 and later moved onto the flute, with Matt Molloy and Eamon Cotter as significant influences on her style.

Michelle also learned the whistle from age 5 and went on to play the button accordion, concertina, harp, fiddle, piano and melodeon.

The event, officially launched last Thursday, will run from January 24-28, at venues across Dublin city centre and Fingal.

It will boast 100 concerts over five days and see a strong showing of women headline artists.
