Memories – 50 years – Borrowing was 'indefensible'


DISAPPROVAL of the action of the Limerick Health Authority in borrowing for revenue purposes was expressed by the Minister for Health Mr D.B. O’Malley in a letter read at this afternoon’s meeting. 

The Minister said he regarded the borrowing of £250,000 as “completely indefensible” arising as it does from failure to make proper provision for the financing of services in the normal way.

Sanction has, however, been given for the sum requested. 

The Minister said he would not feel justified in contributing to the perpetuation of the situation.
