Down Syndrome Limerick was gifted €1,500 by Amazon

A CHARITY in Limerick was handpicked for a €1,500 donation by an international company based in Dublin to provide an essential service.

Down Syndrome Limerick was gifted €1,500 by Amazon in Dublin to help provide over 100 hours of classroom support for adult learners with Down Syndrome.

Down Syndrome Limerick, which is a regional branch of Down Syndrome Ireland, works to provide social, education and development activities for families and individuals with Down Syndrome throughout their life.

Michelle Coughlan, chairperson at Down Syndrome Limerick, said: “As we are a self-funded charity and run on a voluntary basis, the majority of our funding is through donations and fundraisers.

“Donations like this make such a difference and we’d like to say a big thank you to the team at Amazon in Dublin.”

The donation will go towards providing classroom support for those who attend the adult education course with them, which helps to improve the skills required for the world of work.

Darragh Kelly, General Manager at Amazon in Dublin, said: “Down Syndrome Limerick creates opportunities for people with Down Syndrome to help them achieve their full potential through a safe and supportive environment.

“Everyone at Amazon in Dublin hopes this donation contributes to continued support for those who benefit from the Limerick charity’s services.”

The donation to Down Syndrome Limerick was made as part of Amazon’s charity support programme.
