Limerick tunnel re-opens after early morning crash

LIMERICK commuters on the motorway faced heavy delays this morning as emergency services dealt with two multiple vehicle accidents.

The M7 Dublin/Limerick Road southbound was closed from junction 27 Birdhill to junction 28 Castletroy. The accident happened shortly after 7am, according to AA Roadwatch and Limerick Fire Services. It reopened around 9.15pm.

Traffic was diverted at junction 27 Birdhill.

Meanwhile, the northbound bore of the Limerick tunnel has reopened after it was closed for a period due to a crash at 9am, which has now been cleared.
