Model railway club’s second rail exhibition on track for Limerick

Castletroy Park Hotel to welcome model rail enthusiasts from across Ireland
THE Mid-West Model Railway Club’s second annual exhibition will arrive in Limerick later this month – with the organisers promising several new departures for 2026.
Exhibitors from all four corners of the country will descend on the Castletroy Park Hotel on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, for the event.
It will be open between 11am and 5pm each day, and those in attendance are promised model railway layouts, diecast models, airplanes, three-dimensional printing and more.
The popularity of last year’s model railway exhibition at the Castletroy Park Hotel meant the club organised a second one, on Father’s Day weekend.
Evan Kelly, who founded the Mid-West Model Railway Club said interest has grown.
“The public have become more aware of who we are and what we do. The hobby is growing with a number of new members joining us,” explained the Lynwood Park man.
It’s led to a huge number of new sponsors for the event, with Bon Secours Hospital Limerick joining last year’s principal sponsor, the engineering firm O’Connor Sutton Cronin.
"This year, now we have more of a profile, people are willing to sponsor us. It’s good to be recognised for the work we do,” Evan says.
At the exhibition, there will be awards for the best model railways, with the club commissioning specially-made trophies.
Tickets for the event are priced at €5 per adult. Alternatively, it is €3 if you're aged between five and 18 years.
Under fives go free.
All are welcome.
