'It just doesn't feel right' - Coronas to reschedule Limerick concert following medical incident
The concert at King John’s Castle was halted following a medical incident involving guitarist Lar Kaye - seconds after it started
The Coronas have confirmed their concert at King John’s Castle in Limerick city will not proceed this weekend and will instead be rescheduled to a date in July.
The announcement was made by singer Danny O'Reilly around an hour after Friday’s ‘Live at the Castle’ concert was abruptly halted following a medical emergency on stage.
Thousands of people had flocked to the venue on Friday night for the concert which was due to kick-start the Bank Holiday weekend festivities on Shannonside.
However, after taking to the stage to confirm the concert would not be resuming, Danny O’Reilly thanks fans for their patience and understanding.
"First of all, we really appreciate you being here tonight and hanging around, and we want to keep going and do the show, but until we know 100% that Lar (Kaye, guitarist) is okay, it just doesn't feel right.
“I did speak to Lar a minute ago and, you know, he’s a bit shook and he's embarrassed that everyone saw him fall. But as I say, until we get the all-clear, it just... we were talking about it, it just wouldn't feel right for us being up here trying to sing music when we don't know what’s going on.”
Danny, said the band plan to reschedule the concert to a date in July and that details will be confirmed early next week.
“We want Lar to be on stage with us when we come back, and we'll know the date for sure. It's looking like it's going to be either the 10th or 11th of July.”
Danny told fans he hopes they will be able to attend the rescheduled concert once details are confirmed.
“We really appreciate your patience and understanding, and we love yous loads. We are so sorry about this, thank you so much.”
Mick Dolan, also thanked everyone present for their support. “Thank you all again. Thank you for your patience and your support. Thank you,” he said
