WATCH: Limerick's Lee Reeves confirms March 17 Madison Square Garden bout

Limerick fighter Lee Reeves has confirmed he will fight in Madison Square Garden, New York City, on March 17.  Reeves, who made his professional boxing debut on November 7, in Canada had a successful first foray into the squared circle. The former Corpus Christi welterweight, now 23, defeated Mexican Benito Aburto with a TKO in the third round

A former national underage champions, Reeves had a familiar face in his corner with Declan Fitzgerald

Commenting on Facebook, the boxer, who has been training in Canada recently, added

"Been itching to let everybody know about this but can finally let it out!. My next fight will take place on the 17th of March in the world renowned MADISON SQUARE GARDENS on the Michael Conlan Card ☘ thanks to my promoter Lee Baxter Promotions for coming threw once again putting me on the world stage to showcase my skills . Lee's former club also issued a statement about the fight.


"The Corpus Christi Boxing Club would like to take this opportunity to wish both Lee Reeves and Declan Fitzgerald the very best as they embark on the next leg of their adventure together, both Lee and Deckie fly to the states soon to prepare for a Lee's fight in Madison Square Garden on St Patrick's Day. All of us in the club wish you the very best and am very sure every club and person in Limerick is proud of you both"

" I never tier of training Lee, the early mornings the late nights, it's paying off, it's fantastic the ability this young man has to listen to his corner and take instruction, Lee is a fantastic Club Man, and still finds time to pop into Corpus Christi and have a training session with the younger kids in our club, I'm dedicated to our club and to all the crew from the youngest to the oldest... We have very exciting news regarding the club very soon but for now I'm not stealing Less thunder, We have a job to do in New York on Paddies day" added Reeves' coach Declan Fitzgerald.

Lee Reeves added - " I'm ready. Stepping into the ring is just stepping into my office. I almost feel sorry for the guy that has the balls to stand across from me in the ring. I'm going to box my way to the top, with my coach deck in my corner, and all of Limerick behind me, nothing or no one will stop me "

In other Pro Boxing news, unbeaten Limerick super-welter Graham McCormack-O’Shea (3-0-0) will face Cork-based South African Jade Karem (9-9-2) in his first six-rounder on a 17-bout “Clash of the Titans” promotion at the National Stadium on March 30.
 
Limerick-based super-feather Siobhan O’Leary is slated to meet an opponent to be confirmed on the same card.
