Main street of Limerick town flooded after thunderstorm warning

THE MAIN street of a Limerick town was left flooded after heavy rain battered the county on Sunday.

Like most of Limerick, Cappamore was subjected to thunder, lightning and heavy downpours throughout the day on Sunday.

It was a stark difference to the sunshine seen on Saturday after cars were seen driving through a large amount of water.

Drivers were warned to avoid the main thoroughfare through the town due to the flooding.

Met Eireann had issued a status yellow thunderstorm warning for Limerick which was in place from 6pm yesterday until midnight.

Limerick saw localised thunderstorms and slow-moving heavy downpours as well as frequent lightning and surface water-flooding.
