Limerick gathers in memory of Sinéad O'Connor

"Cause nothing compares, nothing compares to you," sang a crowd in unison in Arthur's Park Quay this Sunday.

Despite the pouring rain, a number of people gathered in Limerick this Sunday in memory of the late Sinéad O'Connor.

Next to a newly painted mural portraying the singer-songwriter, people paid their respect to the one whom no one compared to.

While looking up at the black and white painting, a man put down a bouquet of flowers in front of the mural. Singers and speakers joined forces as the crowd sang along to a few of Sinéad's songs.

Organised by Molly Cantwell, the gathering 'Remembering Sinéad O'Connor' aimed to give a chance to Limerick people to pay their respect to an artist who wasn't afraid to speak up.

Speaking of the turn-out, Molly said: "I'm delighted that so many people showed up, I really wasn't expecting it. So many people came out to show their support and to remember Sinéad, it was wonderful. The singers, the speakers - I'm so grateful to them for sharing their gift and their love for Sinéad as well."
