LIMERICK got their Tailteann Cup campaign underway with a 2-16 to 1-16 win over Longford at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening last.
Goals in either half from Cathal Downes and Brian Donovan propelled Mark Fitzgerald's side to a deserved victory. They were comfortable throughout and were five points up heading into added time.
A late Longford goal gave them hope of a comeback but Limerick held out for the win. After the game, Fitzgerald said that he was very happy with what his side produced but added that there is plenty of areas to improve on ahead of their next game against Carlow.
