‘Roll on September 2027': Ryder Cup volunteer excited for ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity

Volunteer Ambassadors will be stationed at key locations - from transport hubs across County Limerick to the entrances to the golf course and key locations on-site such as the Fan Village

A LIMERICK woman has described securing a role as a Volunteer Ambassador at the 2027 Ryder Cup as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Taking to social media, the volunteer said:
“To have the opportunity to be involved in such a huge international sporting event is incredible, and it feels even more exciting knowing that it will be taking place here in Limerick at Adare Manor. As someone who is so proud to be from Limerick, being able to play even a small part in welcoming people from all over the world to our county is something I'm really looking forward to.
“It truly feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of an event of this scale, and I'm so excited for the experience, the people I'll meet and the memories that will come with it. Roll on September 2027!”
Applications opened to become a volunteer for the 2027 Ryder Cup last February, offering the chance to be part of one of the world’s greatest sporting events as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.
There are two types of volunteer roles, the traditional on-course Marshal role joined by a new-look ‘Ambassador’ role that will support the overall fan experience and the smooth running of the event.
Ambassadors have been recruited to help deliver legendary Irish hospitality to the thousands of fans visiting from around the world. They will be stationed at key locations - from transport hubs across County Limerick to the entrances to the golf course and key locations on-site such as the Fan Village - where they will guide visitors, answer questions and help create memorable experiences.
Marshals play a vital role in the day-to-day operations across the golf course, helping ensure the smooth operation of play. This includes providing guidance and support in key areas such as grandstands, individual holes of play, accessibility areas, and managing on-course transport requirements.
Kit Gartrell, Ryder Cup Event Delivery Director at the European Tour Group, said:
“The 2027 Ryder Cup will be the biggest sporting event that Ireland has ever staged and the world will be watching.
“Our volunteers will have the opportunity to be at the heart of this iconic event and be part of history.
“The country has a strong track record of hosting major international golf tournaments, with a strong network of Marshals already in existence as a result. We want to tap into this expertise, and identify new talent, to make sure the 2027 Ryder Cup delivers a best-in-class experience for players and fans.”
The 2027 Ryder Cup will be the iconic event’s 100th anniversary match and will take place at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, from September 13 to September 19, 2027. It will be the second time that Ireland has hosted the event, following the K Club in Kildare in 2006.
