WATCH: What had John Kiely and fans bemused at senior county final?

A moment midway through the second half had many supporters and the Limerick hurling manager bemused

KILMALLOCK have emerged as the 2026 Limerick Senior hurling champions after a 3-19 to 1-22 win over Na Piarsaigh at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

James Hickey’s side were underdogs going in but pulled out a superb performance in the second half to earn their 13th ever title.

However, there was cause for some bemusement in the 43rd minute of the game that was captured by TG4 in the coverage of the final.

There was a bizarre delay to the game for nearly a minute as Kilmallock goalkeeper Conor Hanley-Clarke was left without a sliotar for nearly a minute after he tried to restart the game following a missed Na Piarsaigh free.

Supporters were certainly left amused and bemused, as the game bizarrely took an unexpected break. Limerick manager John Kiely also saw the funny side of the incident that was captured on TG4’s footage.

The cynic may suggest that a lack of sliotars as a time wasting tactic by the Kilmallock keeper with his side ahead, especially given the fact that moments later it seemed that a full bag of balls was supplied to him.

However, Kilmallock supporters and players alike won’t care a jot after a stunning win that sets up a Munster SHC semi-final against Ballygunner on November 15.
