WHILE the three teams to emerge from Group 1 of the Irish Wire Products Senior Football Championship are decided, five teams are vying for two spots to see who joins Mungret-St Paul’s as the trio to progress from Group 2.

While Rathkeale are best placed and currently sit in second, they are up against the defending champions on Friday night.

Adare is the venue for the top-of-the-table clash.

Kildimo-Pallaskenry are just one point behind Rathkeale and will be looking to book their spot in the knockout stages when they meet Ballylanders.

The south Limerick men need a win to avoid the relegation play-offs - a fate that is all-too familiar to them in recent years. However, a win in Cappamore will see Bally in with a shout of a quarter-final spot - but they need Adare to lose.

The 2024 champions are currently in fourth spot one point behind Kildimo-Pallaskenry who sit third.

The men in red and black face intermediate champions Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan in Sean Finn Park knowing they need a win to keep their interest in the championship alive.

Defeat for Adare would, remarkably, see the side who have won four county titles in the last decade face into the relegation play-offs.

All Group 2 games throw in 6pm on Friday while the three Group 1 games take place on Thursday night, also 6pm starts.

No matter how results fall, Fr Casey's will top the group and go directly to the semi-final. Already qualified Newcastle West and Monaleen meet in Sean Finn Park.

Casey’s meet Oola in Kilmallock while Galtee Gaels take on St Kieran’s in Ballyagran.
