Kilmallock edged Na Piarsaigh in a thrilling Whitebox County Senior Hurling Championship opener at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, winning on a scoreline of 1-22 to 0-24.
It was a hard-fought win for James Hickey’s side, who gained the valuable two points on the night against last year’s champions.
Michael Houlihan won it for his side late on with a free from distance and remarkably, Houlihan’s effort was the first time the south Limerick side led in the contest.
After the match, Leader Sports’ Oisín Nolan caught up with winning manager James Hickey.
