TODAY is the day we have been waiting for.

Eighty-seven days after Na Piarsaigh opened their Whitebox Senior Hurling Championship defence with a defeat to Kilmallock, the pair renew their rivalry at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

With a hotly-anticipated battle on the cards, here is all you need to know ahead of throw.

The basics - when and where?

The SHC final takes place at the TUS Gaelic Grounds with a 3.45pm throw-in.

Is there a curtain-raiser?

Yes. The Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship final between south Limerick neighbours Dromin-Athlacca and Bruff is on the undercard. The 1.30pm throw in is sure to attract some Kilmallock supporters in early and should attract a decent attendance in its own right.

Is the final on TV?

The senior game is on TG4 while the Premier IHC clash is on Limerick GAA TV.

Who is the referee?

John O’Halloran will have the whistle for the clash of Na Piarsaigh and Kilmallock. It will be the third time the Bruree native has been the man in the middle for a county senior final.

What is the form like?

Kilmallock have a 100% record with six wins from six in the Championship to date. Na Piarsaigh, since losing to the Balbec in round 1, have been unbeaten since but did need a last-gasp goal to get a draw with Doon.

What’s next for the winner?

Whoever prevails will enter the Munster Senior Club Championship. As has been the case in recent years, Waterford champions Ballygunner await the local champions. That game takes place on November 15 at a Waterford venue, most likely Walsh Park.
