WATCH: Limerick netminder Nickie Quaid savours All-Ireland victory
Nickie Quaid earned his sixth All-Ireland medal after Limerick’s big win over Galway at Croke Park

IT’S now six of the best for Limerick’s generational goalkeeper Nickie Quaid following the Treaty men’s stunning All-Ireland final win over Galway.
Quaid has had an astonishing season between the sticks for John Kiely’s men and hailed Limerick’s win as ‘incredible’ when speaking to the Limerick Leader from the team hotel in Dublin.
“Great sense of satisfaction this morning, waking up and all that. Putting in a huge performance yesterday and getting all over the line. It's kind of hard to put into words really. It's right up there.
“Every year there's different moments that make it special too. But yeah, it's incredibly special to me.”
Limerick were well ahead after Cathal O’Neill’s goal but Quaid said that there was no drop in intensity or concentration given the level of opposition.
“I looked at the scoreboard and I think we were 12 points up and then they got maybe three or four scores in a row. And you're thinking, jeez, if they get a goal, the whole thing is back on again.
“So you're constantly on edge to be fair. It's only for the last two or three minutes that you can fully relax,” Quaid added.
