Iconic Dublin nightspot welcomed Limerick hurlers following Galway win

STAR Limerick hurler Peter Casey revealed he and a few teammates toasted the teams’ incredible win over Galway in one of Dublin’s most iconic nightspots.

Speaking on RTE Radio One this Monday morning from the team’s hotel at Burlington Road in the capital, the right corner forward revealed they journeyed to Copper Face Jacks in the wake of the triumph.

“We are feeling the worse for it,” he laughed to Marty Morrissey on Morning Ireland.

“I won’t tell you what time I got home, but we are home - and home in one piece,” he added.

Limerick beat Galway by 11 points to land their sixth All-Ireland senior hurling title in nine years.

Na Piarsaigh man Peter said: “We saved our best performance to the last day. Diarmaid [Byrnes] said in his interview yesterday that we were searching for that performance all year and fortunately it came out on the last day which is brilliant.”

Goalkeeper Nickie Quaid joined Peter in the hotel lobby.

He said: “To be involved in this team is a privilege. What John and the boys have put together is great. To watch some of the performances from these lads over the last quarter, I am over the moon.”

Peter added of the Limerick hurling boss: “He is just a real principled character. He has a real aura about him. He's our leader and we all look up to him. Whatever he says, we do. Paul [Kinnerk] is the brains behind the whole operation. Every training session we have is nearly harder than the match we have!”
