Gardaí are advising Limerick hurling fans to use public transport to get to Croke Park for the All-Ireland hurling final on Sunday, July 19
GARDAÍ are advising hurling finals travelling to Croke Park on Sunday for the All-Ireland hurling final to plan their journey and allow plenty of time.
Hurling fans travelling from Limerick and Galway are advised to follow the instructions of gardaí on duty, while approaching the stadium and that stiles will open at 1pm, ahead of the throw-in at 3.30pm.
An Garda Síochána developed a traffic and transport management plan with the National Transport Agency for those arriving and departing from Croke Park.
A garda spokesperson said: “Allow plenty of time for both your arrival and departure after the match.
“Those travelling to Dublin for the match should arrive early.
“Attendees are asked to use public transport where possible and use park and ride facilities where available.”
Irish Rail will provide additional capacity on both DART and commuter routes with extra services to Greystones, Howth and Maynooth after the match. See www.irishrail.ie for schedules and updates.
Dublin Bus (www.dublinbus.ie) routes will also service Croke Park and the Luas (www.transdevireland.ie) will operate throughout the day.
There will be no designated coach set-down or parking area and parking will be available at select car parks only, with all parking locations within a 15-minute walk of Croke Park.
A garda spokesperson explained: “On-street parking is expected to be very limited during the match. Accessible parking is provided in the Davin Stand car park for vehicles who have registered for a spot when ordering tickets for the match. Contact www.crokepark.ie for accessibility assistance.”
For those driving to Croke Park, fans are advised to allow extra time for traffic delays.
People with tickets for the Hogan and Davin stands are advised to approach from the north and west side of the stadium by using the M50 motorway to Navan Road, Finglas Road and Drumcondra Road.
Those with tickets for the Cusack stand and pitch should approach from the south and east side of the stadium by using the Port Tunnel and East Link Bridge.
