Popular souvenir is back as Limerick are hurling kings of Ireland once more!

COME in 26-L-LIAM!

The popular souvenir number plate which commemorates Limerick’s latest All-Ireland win is to go on sale this Monday evening as the players return home to the city.

It’s the first time the annual sign has been in the green since 2023, and fans will be able to purchase them for €5 at the homecoming celebrations.

All proceeds from sales will go to the Limerick Players training fund.

The county board has urged supporters to only purchase the official 26-L-LIAM plate.

“The purchase of unofficial 26- L- LIAM signs has no benefit whatsoever to Limerick GAA or our players. Our official sign has some very distinctive hallmarks on it, that includes the use of both the Limerick GAA crest and our county jersey,” they stated in a post on social media.

The production of mocked-up vehicle number plates to celebrate the winner of the All-Ireland senior hurling and football champions has been a tradition in Ireland for around 20 years.

The homecoming is planned to kick off at Pery Square, where swathes of fans watched Limerick’s win unfold on a big screen this Sunday.

The event, hosted by Limerick GAA and Limerick City and County Council, has been organised to provide fans of all ages with the opportunity to celebrate another historic achievement for Limerick hurling.

Compered by Catriona Tierney, the homecoming celebration will see entertainment provided by DJ Mark McCabe, singer Gearoid McCarthy, plus special guests.
