AN GRIANÁN Theatre is bringing a slice of Donegal and 1980s festival culture to Limerick's Belltable Theatre with its production Lisdoon Nirvana.
Written and performed by Frankie McCafferty, and directed by fellow Donegal native Charlie Bonner, Lisdoon Nirvana is a powerful, funny, and nostalgic theatrical monologue accompanied by live music.
Coming to Limerick on November 13 the production captures the essence of youth, freedom, and rebellion, all set against the backdrop of the final legendary Lisdoonvarna music festival in July 1983.

The story follows Macker, a young man from Donegal, and his friends as they make a chaotic pilgrimage to Clare on a rickety two-stroke motorbike, fuelled by smuggled booze, teenage dreams, and wild rumours.
The trip becomes a modern Irish odyssey, reflecting a nation in flux, caught between recession, emigration, religious pressure and youth culture.
The show promises laughs, heart, and original music, exploring the universal experience of seeking freedom and belonging, be it through festivals, music, or youthful misadventure.
The Belltable performance is expected to draw crowds from across Limerick and the Mid-West, particularly those with fond memories of Lisdoonvarna or a love of Irish music and storytelling.
Lisdoon Nirvana is described as being for everyone who’s ever been young and dreamed of going to a festival and finding Nirvana.
Frankie McCafferty has recently appeared in Paris, in Samuel Beckett’s ‘All That Fall’ directed by Adrian Dunbar at the Centre Culturel Irlandais as part of the Beckett Unbound festival 2024.
Don’t miss the chance to catch this unique show when it comes to Belltable, Limerick on November 13th, 2025.
