The Fureys will play the University Concert Hall on January 17
ONE OF Ireland’s most cherished folk groups, The Fureys, have announced a Limerick date as part of their Farewell Tour, marking the end of a 49-year journey in music.
The band will perform in the University Concert Hall, Limerick, Saturday, January 17, as part of their final 105 concerts across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe between October 2025 and May 2026.
Known for timeless classics like When You Were Sweet Sixteen, The Green Fields of France, Red Rose Café and I Will Love You, The Fureys have created a lasting legacy in Irish music, bringing folk and traditional sounds to global audiences.

Their songs have touched generations, earning them standing ovations in some of the world’s most prestigious venues.
Brothers Eddie and George Furey, the last original touring members, say they are facing the final months of their career with mixed emotions.
“We know we have been among the luckiest people on earth having a ‘job’ we love and enjoy, traveling the world to places we would never have been to, meeting people and making many friends we would never have met,” said Eddie. “However, time catches up with us all and we will look to a new future.”
The Fureys' story spans generations, from spontaneous sessions with musical legends like Pete Seeger and Dave Stewart, to their chart-topping hits and Top of the Pops appearances.
This upcoming Limerick show is expected to be an emotional night for long-time fans who have followed the band since their early days in the late 1970s.
