Limerick Pride under way - with big events taking place in next few days

LIMERICK Pride is well under way across the city centre, with events taking place up until next Sunday lunchtime.

This Wednesday, Goshh will in Davis Street be hosting a creative writing exhibition all day.

Meditation takes place there between 6pm and 8pm.

Also on Wednesday, there is a speed dating event for LGBTQ+ women and the non-binary community aged over 30 in 101, at O’Connell Street.

Limerick’s own Treaty City Brewery in Nicholas Street will also host a painting event on Thursday night.

On what’s a packed evening, 101’s Secret Garden will welcome a panel discussion looking back at the LGBTQ+ movement in Limerick.

The night before the Pride parade, a family-friendly dance workshop takes place at Dance Limerick in St John’s Square between 6.30pm and 11pm.

The traditional night before Pride party will take place at Mickey Martin’s this Friday night, featuring street performers, guest DJs and camp classics.

Saturday’s Pride parade kicks off at 2pm outside City Hall, with participants asked to gather from 12.30pm. It will form part of a full day of activities in the city centre.

On Monday, the grand marshal of this year’s Limerick Pride parade will tonight host an event focused on the history of LGBT liberation in Ireland.

It comes as the annual festival got under way at the People’s Museum of Limerick, based at Pery Square in the city centre.

Tonie Walsh, the founder of Ireland’s queer archive will lead this year’s Limerick Pride Parade on Saturday afternoon.
