DARKNESS Into Light is set to return to Limerick this May with tens of thousands expected to partake in the sunrise walk once again this year.
Pieta’s biggest fundraising event, which is proudly supported by Electric Ireland, returns at dawn on Saturday, May 10, aiming to surpass last year’s incredible total of €4.5m.
Limerick blogger and entrepreneur Louise Cooney is the Munster ambassador for the event, said: “Darkness Into Light is more than just a walk — it’s a powerful statement of hope and solidarity.
“Every step taken helps fund Pieta’s lifesaving services, ensuring that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
“The incredible support in Munster last year showed the strength of our communities, and the importance of Pieta’s services in Munster - we encourage even more people to join us in 2025 to bring light into the lives of those in crisis.”

Every registration directly funds Pieta’s crisis support, therapy sessions, and suicide prevention initiatives.
If you sign up for €22 for adults or €5 for teens before Wednesday, April 30, you’ll be able to purchase one of the new official 2025 Darkness Into Light T-shirts and receive it ahead of the walk.
Pieta chief executive, Stephanie Manahan, said: “The funds we raise each year through Darkness Into Light are essential in sustaining Pieta’s free, professional, and accessible support services.
“Every lifesaving conversation, every lifesaving counselling session, and every moment of suicide and self-harm prevention we provide is made possible by the generosity of those who sign up, show up, and walk.”
In 2024, Pieta delivered 13,512 hours of therapy and assisted 1,806 people in Munster.
Pieta and Electric Ireland urge people to sign up at darknessintolight.ie, reminding communities across the country that their participation directly supports essential therapy and support services for those affected by suicide and self-harm.
Lisa Browne, head of marketing and customer insights, Electric Ireland, said: “Electric Ireland is delighted to continue our 13-year partnership with Pieta and Darkness Into Light.
“We are committed to making a difference in the communities we serve. This sponsorship is vital to our customers and staff, who actively participate each year to raise funds for Pieta and show solidarity with those affected by suicide and self-harm.
“Despite progress, significant challenges remain, making Pieta's work invaluable and necessary.”
