In Pictures: Celebrations in Limerick as fans welcome home their hurling heroes

THERE were joyous scenes in Limerick city on Monday night as an estimated 20,000 people turned out to welcome home the four-in-a-row All-Ireland champions.

Unlike All-Ireland final Sunday, the weather played its part ensuring there was a party atmosphere in Pery Square where a stage was erected for the special occasion.

Large crowds gathered from 5pm to greet the boys in green as they returned home having beaten Kilkenny by 30 points to 2-15 at Croke Park just over 24 hours earlier.

The homecoming celebrations continue this Tuesday evening with Patrickswell GAA club hosting an event for it's local hurling heroes - Cian Lynch, Diarmaid Byrnes and Aaron Gillane.

The free event kicks off 6pm.
