HE WAS no stranger to making the headlines during his tenure as minister for defence and now Willie O'Dea is making the news for being up in arms over the Limerick hurlers.

The Fianna Fáil TD was out in force to show support for the four in-a-row All-Ireland winners at the homecoming event held in Pery’s Square in the city.

Deputy O’Dea was in People’s Park celebrating the victory when he was hoisted in the air by none other than Diarmaid Byrnes and Kyle Hayes.

“These Limerick heroes have given us all a lift - including me,” Deputy O’Dea said on social media of the video of him being hoisted into the air.

That wasn’t the only interaction with the hurlers Deputy O’Dea had at the homecoming in which 20,000 fans attended.

He was also seen posing with pointed finger guns along with Limerick hurler Darragh O’Donovan.

“Darragh O'Donovan was in great form when I met him at the homecoming earlier,” the Fianna Fáil TD said.

The Fianna Fáil TD was also seen taking pictures with Limerick supporters in the crowd.

It was a long day of celebrating for the four in-a-row champions but the good times are just underway as Liam MacCarthy is set to make a trip to Patrickswell later this evening to the home club of Cian Lynch, Diarmaid Byrnes and Aaron Gillane.
