Clearing works underway at Limerick GAA club grounds damaged in Storm Éowyn

A crane and workers were on site in Fitzgerald Park, Kilmallock this Sunday

CONSTRUCTION workers instead of hurlers, footballers and camogie players were on site in Fitzgerald Park, Kilmallock this Sunday.

A section of the stand in one of the busiest GAA fields in the county was torn to smithereens by the power of Storm Éowyn in the early hours of Friday morning.

Parts of the roof in Fitzgerald Park, Kilmallock appear to have been blown into the rear of local properties.

A post on the GAA club’s Facebook page on Friday reads: “Important. Please note CLG Cill Mocheallog - Kilmallock GAA Club is closed completely until further notice.”

A crane and workers were in the ground this Sunday to commence clearance works and make the roof safe.

Fitzgerald Park has hosted inter county action all the way up to senior.
