MOTORISTS across Limerick are being urged to exercise caution this Friday morning due to a risk of ice and poor road conditions in places - particularly on local roads.

While the heavy snowfall which was forecast for overnight did not materialise, a Status Yellow ice warning remains in place for Limerick and Clare until midday.

Crews from Limerick City and County Council were deployed late on Thursday night to treat national and primary secondary roads a garda spokesperson confirmed to Limerick Live there have been no reports of any major incidents overnight and that all roads remain open and passable.

It's expected that public transport services that were impacted by the poor weather on Thursday will operate as normal this Friday and that most schools which remained closed will re-open.
