Met Éireann warns of possible power outages and travel disruption in Limerick as wind warning takes effect

MET Éireann is warning there may be power outages, downed trees and travel disruption in Limerick this Thursday due to strong and gusty winds.

The forecaster updated a nationwide Status Yellow wind warning in the early hours of the morning and it came into effect at 5am.

"Westerly winds will be very strong and gusty today, in the west at first, progressing eastwards in the afternoon, reaching storm force at coastal areas of the northwest," it reads.

Met Éireann says possible impacts include "downed trees, power outages and travel disruption".

The wind warning remains valid until 2am on Friday.
