WATCH: Limerick GAA stars lend support to Little Blue Heroes

LIMERICK sporting heroes gathered earlier this Thursday to show their support for a heart-warming initiative.

Limerick forward Cathal O'Neill, Limerick football captain Iain Corbett and Ireland's strongest man Pat O'Dwyer showed up at the launch of 'Limerick Goes Blue', an event organised for Little Blue Heroes.

The upcoming Garda charity event will aim to clock up 5,000km across the iconic Three Bridges Walk in Limerick city on September 30.

Cathal, Iain and Pat will all get their steps in, in support of the non-profit foundation.

The Three Bridges loop is 3.6km in length and will start and finish at the rear gates of Henry Street Garda Station. To reach the 3.6km goal, a total of 1,389 loops will have to be completed.

The event will run alongside a family fun day at the rear of Henry Street Garda Station, from 12 to 4pm.

A sensory friendly time will also be held from 12pm to 12.30pm and several local musicians will also join the event.

All proceeds raised will go to Little Blue Heroes, a foundation operated on a voluntary basis by Garda Staff, which aims to provide financial help to families in need in Ireland, who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for serious illness.

"As heroes to us, with the battles they face, these children have become our Little Blue Heroes," said the Limerick Little Blue Heroes Garda Team.
