A LIMERICK woman has shared her experience of working as an intern for a national TV station.

Kristina Ní Bhriain is a gaeilgeoir from Adare, and has had a “whirlwind year” working in the role of social media intern with TG4’s children's channel Cúla4.

Kristina began her education in Shountrade NS. Her love for the Irish language and music grew exponentially during her six years attending Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ and it was here that she decided to pursue Gaeilge post-secondary school.

She went on to study Applied Languages with German, Gaeilge and TESOL at the University of Limerick (UL) where she received a first-class honours.

During this time, she spent time studying and working in France, Germany and on Inis Mór which ultimately deepened her passion for her chosen subjects.

After graduating from UL, she moved out to work on Inis Mór, where she gained a new appreciation for the Irish language, and so she decided to embark on her journey with Cúla4!

Covering events from Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann to Oireachtas na Samhna to Babhta na bPáistí, Kristina said: “I have loved every second of meeting Gaeil óga from all around the country and from a multitude of different backgrounds.

“I have gained invaluable experience with Cúla4, which I will take with me as I continue on to the next step in my career.”

Music is Kristina’s first grá. Choirs and orchestras such as Ancór, Limerick School of Music choir and orchestra and various ensembles along the way shaped her youth, and she continues to enjoy playing ensemble music when she is at home in Limerick.
