Treaty United seeking to make to back-to-back league wins with trip to Ferrycarrig Park

THE Treaty United Men's side will be looking to build on last week's first win of the season when they travel to the south-east to take on Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park.

Tommy Barrett's charges travel to Ferrycarrig Park tonight having picked up their first three points of the season last week against Athlone Town at the Markets Field.

Goals from Ben Feeney and Cian Curtis gave the 'Shannonsiders' a much needed win, which leaves the Garryowen-based side on five points after six outings.

Dave Rooney took charge of Treaty United in the Athlone Town victory and cited defensive solidity as the key foundation stone.

"The most pleasing part was our defensive discipline in the last 20 or 25 minutes, we didn’t look like conceding a goal," said Rooney who was deputising for the Tommy Barrett on the night. 

"We were very sloppy in the first half, could have been a lot better in possession. We went in and had a chat, in the second half it was just back to basics, turned them around, got bodies up the pitch and see where we go.

"We got the early goal in the second half, that settled us right down and we kicked on from there.

Treaty face a Wexford side who have enjoyed a mixed bag of results to date in the 2026 First Division season, registering one win, three draws and two losses from their opening six fixtures.

"We’ve usually done well down there bar the Cup game (in September 2024, Wexford won that game 4-1).

"If we can defend with a nice solid block, there’s plenty of goals in the team.

"Cian (Curtis) is a really good player up top, there’s goals in him. Ben Feeney will get plenty of shots away, there’s goals in him too, there’s goals in Jason (Folarin-Oyenuga), you see what he did up in Finn Harps, Jevontae (Layne) as well, there’s goals in Jevontae."

Should Treaty win tonight, they will leap-frog their Wexford opponents who sit just one point above the ‘Super Blues’ in eight position.

In their four meetings last season, Wexford enjoyed a share of the spoils, winning two of the fixtures.

The other meetings between the clubs saw a 0-0 draw at the Markets Field and a 2-0 away win for Treaty at Ferrycarrig Park in October.
