TREATY United opened the new SSE Airtricity League Women's Premier Division season with a 2-0 defeat to Shelbourne in front of the TG4 TV cameras at Tolka Park on Saturday afternoon.
Aoife Kelly broke the deadlock when scoring for Shels’ in the 39th minute, and Becky Watkins wrapped up the three points with a second goal just before the break. Katie Lawlee broke away through the middle for new manager Laurie Ryan's side, and forced Shelbourne shot-stopper Sanchez into making a save, after 15 minutes.
With 10 minutes remaining, Treaty's Kyah Coady found Ciara Breslin, played the ball back to Lawlee, but her shot was deflected behind by a Shels’ defender.
Next up for Treaty United is a home fixture against Waterford at the Markets Field on Saturday next, March 21, 3pm kick-off.
