TREATY United have boosted their SSE Airtricity League First Division play-off prospects with a valuable 1-0 victory over ten-man at the Markets Field on Friday night.

Niko Kozlowski’s last-gasp effort proved decisive as Treaty United claimed three valuable points in dramatic fashion.

The hosts hold on to fifth place in the First Division table and ended a winless streak spanning seven matches.

Mark Byrne could’ve given Treaty the lead two minutes in, however his 20-yard effort lacked conviction and was easily dealt with by UCD goalkeeper Dara Kavanagh.

Fourteen minutes later, his counterpart Matthew Boylan was called into action and saved Stephen Mohan’s first-time effort inside the box.

Mohan tried his luck again on 23 minutes, the UCD winger collected a loose ball but couldn't direct his subsequent effort on target.

Goalkeeping brilliance denied Treaty the opening goal five minutes later. Kavanagh produced a fingertip save to repel Joe Hanson’s delightful curling shot from the far edge of the box.

Mohan missed another opportunity ten minutes into the second half, again missing the target after Treaty failed to deal with a corner kick.

Two minutes later, there was almost a carbon copy of a first-half incident. Hanson’s powerful 20-yard effort forced a terrific save from Kavanagh.

Hanson could’ve broken the deadlock again on 72 minutes but couldn’t direct his effort on target. Ben Lynch carved the opportunity following a marauding run down the left flank.

60 seconds later, the visitors spurned another opportunity. Patrick Ferry collected a long ball but fired wide from 20 yards out.

UCD were reduced to ten men 15 minutes from time, Adam Verdon was shown a yellow card after he was adjudged to have fouled Lee Devitt.

Nikodem Kozlowski was introduced as a late substitute and scored the winning goal right at the death.

Lee Devitt guided Roy Lawlor delightful cross into his path before he fired low to the net.
