Limerick teen nominated for top Women’s International Player of the Year award

LIMERICK teen Madison McGuane has been short-listed for an hour at the 35th Football Association of Ireland (FAI) International Awards.

The Treaty United star is one of three player nominated for the Women’s U17 International Player of the Year.

McGuane faces opposition from Anna Butler and Ella Kelly.

Last year, Ardscoil Mhuire, Corbally, student McGuane was named the Girls U15 FAI Schools Player of the Year at these awards.

On Friday, June 6, the winners will be presented with their trophies in the Aviva Stadium ahead of the International Friendly between Ireland and Senegal.

The performances taken into account are from June 2024 to May 2025.

Just last week, McGuane was in Eerikkila, Finland with the Ireland Girls' U16 squad for the 2025 UEFA Development Tournament, where opposition was provided by Belgium, Finland and Switzerland.

In that U16 squad, McGuane was joined by fellow Treaty Utd players; Annabel Mulcaire Quille and Ellen Goggin. 

Elsewhere, at the 35th Fai International Awards the nominees for the Senior Men’s International Player of the Year are Robbie Brady, Nathan Collins and Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Senior Women’s International Player of the Year short-list includes Kyra Carusa, Anna Patten and Julie-Ann Russell.

The Young Men’s International Player of the Year nomiees are Finn Azaz, Festy Ebosele and Jake O’Brien, while the Young Women’s International Player of the Year nominees are Abbie Larkin, Jessie Stapleton and Tyler Toland.
