Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett
TREATY United face their second game in the space of less than 72 hours when Tommy Barrett's charges face Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park in the SSE Airtricity League First Division on Easter Monday at 5pm.
Fifth-placed Treaty hold the distinction of being the only side in the First Division to have taken points off leaders Dundalk after the sides finished level, 1-1, in their fixture at the Markets Field on Good Friday.
While Treaty United sit in fifth spot in the table, Monday's opponents Wexford occupy fourth place, two points above the Limerick-based side.
Following the long trip to Wexford on Easter Monday, Treaty have a home meeting with Athlone Town four days later.
Barrett knows Treaty should’ve done better against Wexford the last time and while they’ve already recorded a convincing win over Athlone, the Treaty manager says there’s no room for complacency.
“There was a goal in it the last time (against Wexford). We were the better team and we shouldn’t have lost it," Tommy Barrett said.
“The game against Athlone was a freak 5-0 win, we had five chances and we scored five goals. There will be nothing in the games.”
Treaty boss Barrett says his side were full value for the draw with First Division leaders Dundalk on Good Friday.
“I thought we deserved a point for a finish,” said Barrett.
“They’re a really good side, they keep the ball very well, so we’re delighted to get the point.”
Both of their meetings between Treaty and Dundalk to date this season have ended in a draw while Dundalk have won their remaining eight games. However, Barrett was quick to play down the significance of this.
“Ah it is (a positive) but it’s not worth a lot unless you’re picking up three points elsewhere and we need to start doing more of that.”
And the Treaty boss is keen to emphasise that this can be achieved by keeping more clean sheets more often.
Treaty have posted some big victories this season, but Barrett says pragmatism trumps flamboyance in this league.
“You don’t have to be scoring three or four goals (per game) if you’re well organised,” said the Treaty manager.
“We just have to start winning games one or two nil and being organised.”
