GOALS in either half from Katie Lawlee and Isabella Flocchini saw Treaty United record a 2-0 victory over league newcomers Waterford WFC in their opening day Women's Premier Division fixture at the Markets Field on Saturday afternoon.

Treaty hit the front on 35 minutes when, after Grace Ehinger won possession back, Ayaka Ikeza crossed from the left. Bella Flocchini flicked the ball on and after the Waterford defence failed to clear the danger, the ball fell to Katie Lawlee who caught it sweetly on the volley, flashing a terrific shot high into the top corner of the net.

Limerick native Lawlee, an Ireland underage international, is in her third season of first-team football with Treaty United after two very impressive seasons at senior level.

Sean Russell's Treaty side sealed the three points with another spectacular goal in the 76th minute. Grace McInerney found Flocchini on the edge of the Waterford penalty area.

Flocchini took two quick touches before flashing a terrific left foot curling effort high in the Waterford net to seal the points.

The American has returned to Treaty United this season having enjoyed a brief spell with the club last summer, making five appearances. Flocchini played collegiately with the San José State University Spartans, spending four seasons in California.

Next up for Treaty United is an away Women's Premier Division fixture against DLR Waves at UCD Bowl on Saturday next, March 15, 3pm.
