TREATY United registered their second win of the season when they defeated Finn Harps 3-1 in Markets Field on Friday evening.
Evan O'Connor, Lee Devitt and David Tarmey all hit the net for the victors. Finn Harps levelled matters 29 seconds into the second half. However, second half goals from Devitt and Tarmey proved to be difference as Treaty recorded their first home win of the season.
Treaty United came into this clash on the back of an impressive 5-0 victory Athlone Town last week. Meanwhile, Finn Harps were yet to register three points.
It was the visitors who dominated the opening exchanges but the Donegal side couldn't find their way past a stubborn Treaty United defence. Although, Treaty were defending impressively, the home side were struggling to get outside their own half.
Two minutes into the contest, Finn Harps attacker Patrick Ferry forced two quickfire saves from Treaty United goalkeeper Corey Chambers.
Patrick Ferry's free kick just outside the box forced a fingertip save from Chambers after the first quarter. However, Treaty began to settle into this clash.
It looked as if Lee Devitt was through for a goalscoring opportunity on 26 minutes only for Anthony Todd to step across and foul Devitt. Referee Alan Patchell awarded a yellow card to Todd.
Finn Harps then failed to clear their lines one minute before the break.Treaty United opened the scoring when Evan O'Connor slotted the ball into the back of the net on the stroke of half time.
Harps hit the ground running straight away after the interval and Max Place's cross found it's way to Patrick Ferry and Ferry made no mistake from close range 29 seconds into the second half.
Tommy Barrett's side reaction was impressive, the Limerick side began to enjoy more possession. Treaty United got rewarded for their efforts in the final 17 minutes and the hosts looked a different side throughout the second half.
Treaty United's Mark Byrne took a shot on goal and midfielder Lee Devitt was taken out of the play by Finn Harps goalkeeper Oisin Cooney. Devitt stepped up and extended his side's lead from the penalty spot after 73 minutes.
On 84 minutes there was a sense of relief in Markets Field when Finn Harps' effort through Max Hutchison hit the crossbar.
Five minutes from the full time whistle, Lee Devitt and Richkov Boev combined to set up substitute David Tarmey for Treaty United's third goal of the evening. Tarmey's goal sealed the three points for the hosts on Friday night.
Treaty United will now switch their focus to their clash with Dundalk next Friday night on March 7 at 7;45pm in Oriel Park.
