TREATY United have confirmed that top scorer Enda Curran has signed on for the 2023 SSE Airtricity League season.

Galway native Curran hit 20 goals for Tommy Barrett's Limerick side in 2022 and it the first publicly confirmed re-signing ahead of the new campaign.

Curran's form with Treaty Utd this season saw him named on the PFA Ireland First Division Team of the Year.

The fixtures for the First Division are to be confirmed later this week but Treaty Utd will have home advantage in the Markets Field in the opening round when they entertain Bray Wanderers on Friday February 17 at 7.45.

While Curran will be back in the Treaty colours for 2023, recent weeks have seen six of the '22 squad confirm their departure - captain Jack Lynch, Conor Melody, Jack Brady, Callum McNamara, Joel Coustrain, and Joe Collins.

The Curran announcement came late on Tuesday night.

Earlier that day, the Limerick senior soccer club had announced the appointment of Ed Gallagher as Treaty United U15 boys manager.

"Ed joins Treaty United with over 15 years of coaching experience, including several years working in the FAI Centre of Excellence in Killarney along with being a coach on the Limerick Desmond side that won the Plate competition in the 2017 Kennedy Cup," said the club.

Ed played adult level with both Askeaton AFC and Ballysteen AFC and has represented the Limerick Desmond League at Youth and Oscar Traynor level. Ed enjoyed a spell with Limerick FC at U20 and A Championship level and played for the University of Limerick during his studies.

A move abroad saw Ed win a state championship with Australian side Boroondara Carey Eagles before moving to Fitzroy City SC.

Ed will be ably assisted by Andrew Carey and Dean Callinan who will form his backroom team ahead of the forthcoming season.

"We have just finished a competitive trials process where the standard was very good and we had to make a few difficult decisions but overall, we are very happy with the squad we have picked and can’t wait to get started with pre-season training. For next season we want to prioritise the development of all the players helping them to maximise their potential and we want to play an attacking and creative style of football," Gallagher told treatyunitedfc.com
