Kieran Hanlon goal gives Limerick FC timely boost with friendly win

Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett saw his charges overcome Cobh Ramblers in their latest pre-season friendly on Saturday

LIMERICK FC received a timely boost ahead of the start of the new SSE Airtricity League First Division season after recording a deserved 1-0 pre-season friendly win over Cobh Ramblers at St Colman's Park this Saturday.

Kieran Hanlon scored the game's only goal on 20 minutes as the former Pike Rovers star headed powerfully to the net.

Limerick manager used the fixture against their First Division rivals Cobh to give further gametime to his travelling squad, as no fewer than eight substitutions were made at half-time and through the second half of the game.

The victory capped an excellent few days for Limerick as the First Division Blues had recently been awarded an SSE Airtricity League Premier Division licence for 2019 Season

Relegated Limerick will kick-off life back in the First Division with a home fixture against Longford Town on Friday, February 22, 7.45pm, with the game due to be played at the Markets Field.

Tommy Barrett’s Limerick side travel to relegated Bray Wanderers for their second league fixture of the season on Friday, March 1, before hosting Drogheda Utd on March 8.

Limerick were relegated to the First Division after losing their two-leg play-off against Finn Harps in November.
