Limerick GAA championships all in later stages

LIMERICK GAA fixture planners have revealed two hectic weekends of action that will see all adult championships down to a handful of games.

This weekend there 12 knockout hurling championship games on a hectic fixture list and the following weekend a number of final pairings will be known.

The first silverware of the top four tiers of club hurling and football will be on offer on October 8.

The next couple of weekends could get complicated with the likes of Monaleen, Mungret, Adare, Kildimo-Pallaskenry and St Patricks among those chasing double honours at present with their primary adult teams.

There will be new senior hurling champions and the last four should be known in the Limerick SHC this Sunday.

But what is confirmed is that a Limerick city trio dominate the semi final line-up in the county SFC after champions Newcastle West crashed out last weekend.

Monaleen play St Patricks in a mouth-watering last four tie on Sunday evening October 2 under lights in the Gaelic Grounds, while in the second semi final Na Piarsaigh play Dromcollogher-Broadford, who will be appearing in a 17th successive semi final. This tie takes place on Friday evening September 30 at 7.30.

In the Limerick IFC, Mungret will play Adare in the the semi final. St Senans await the replay winner of the quarter final between Galbally and Castlemahon.

Elsewhere in club football last weekend, Pallasgreen were relegated from the senior ranks with a loss to Ballylanders, while Cappagh were relegated to the junior ranks with a Limerick IFC loss to Bruff.

That’s all relegation issues confirmed in the football ranks.

In hurling Murroe-Boher and Bruree have made the drop from the senior ranks and Croom and Granagh-Ballingarry drop out of the Premier IHC.

The relegation play-off in the Limerick IHC takes place this Saturday (5.45) in Mick Neville Park between St Kierans and Feenagh-Kilmeedy.
