Munster to welcome favourite son home

Munster to welcome favourite son home

MUNSTER will look to complete their run of pre-season friendlies with a victory over Worcester Warriors at Musgrave Park on Friday night, 7pm.

Rassie Erasmus’ reign as Munster’s first Director of Rugby opened with a 17-0 win over Zebre at a wet and windy Waterford RSC on Friday last.

That game saw Munster hand senior debuts to 12 players including exciting local trio of Conor Fitzgerald, Calvin Nash and Dan Goggin.

Fitzgerald and Nash received their Leaving Cert results just two days before making their senior debuts for Munster.

Adding spice to Friday night’s clash with Worcester will be the presence of former Munster second row stalwart Donncha O’Callaghan in their squad.

Munster are sweating on the fitness of Dave Foley for Friday night, with the lock reporting a back spasm from the victory over Zebre.

Meanwhile, the dates and kick-off times have been confirmed for Munster’s first four Champions Cup group fixtures in October and December.

Munster travel to Paris to face Ronan O'Gara's Racing 92 in the opening round on Sunday October 16, 3.15pm.

Seven days later, Munster face Glasgow Warriors at Thomond Park at 1pm.

Munster then host Leicester at Thomond Park on Saturday, December 10, 3.15, before the return game at Welford Road seven days later.
