Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley praised Brendan Galloway for his match-winning performance as Argyle beat play-off chasing Luton 1-0 at Home Park.
The Zimbabwean international defender took his goal tally to three in four games with his first half stoppage time winner against the Hatters.
Top scorer Lorent Taloj’s header from Ronan Curtis’ corner was tipped on to the bar by Josh Keeley but Galloway pounced first to fire home in the melee.
Cleverley said: “Brendan is a fantastic role model for our young players. We are a dangerous set-piece team at the moment and Brendan seems to be getting on the end of a lot of them.
“It was a good game of football and really entertaining for a 1-0.
“For the first 60 minutes of the game we were excellent.
“We created enough chances to have won two or three games.
“If I am going to be picky then the last two games shouldn’t have just been 1-0 wins.
“We should be out of sight and kill the game off.
“But after that first hour? Luton are a quality side, good players and play through the lines really well and when your energy drops they can punish you.
“After the hour they came back into the game.
“It would have been a huge disappointment if we didn’t win that game of football.
“In the last two games we’ve created a lot of good chances.
“If I could direct anything towards the player it would be they should be a lot more comfortable when we get to the hour mark.
“We paid a price for the victory which takes the shine off it. Joe Ralls (hamstring) and Brendan Wiredu (calf) were both injured and Lorent Tolaj significant dead leg.”
Luton boss Jack Wilshere felt it was harsh on the Hatters to leave Devon with nothing.
He admitted: “I thought we’d done enough to get something out of the game, apart from putting the ball in the back of the net.
“When you come here you expect it to be tough. It was tough in the first half. Plymouth made it tough for us.
“I thought we suffered that moment quite well but of course we conceded from a set-play at a bad time for us.
“But even in the second half we started well and we had the right intentions to attack.
“It’s just about that final moment of putting the ball in the back of the net.
“Then of course when you are chasing the game you always leave yourself open on the transition.
“I thought we had done enough to maybe get a point but you have to put the ball in the net.”
