Taylor Perry celebrated his first goal since April as Shrewsbury returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over League Two relegation-rivals Harrogate, who were reduced to 10 men.
It was a 13th defeat in 17 winless league games for Harrogate as their relegation woes deepened.
Trey Ogunsuyi almost opened the scoring with a goal of the season candidate as his first-time effort from Sam Clucas’ cross flew narrowly over the target.
Henry Gray pushed Iwan Morgan’s threatening strike away from danger.
Down the other end, Will Brook kept out Emile Acquah’s strike on the stroke of the break.
Simon Weaver’s side went down to 10 men shortly after the restart when Jack Evans, who picked up a yellow in the first five minutes, was sent off for delaying the game.
Gray produced a brilliant stop to keep out Perry on the hour before the midfielder found the top corner with a fine strike from the edge of the box minutes later.
The visiting stopper did well to keep out Morgan for a second time of the afternoon.
Tom Cursons almost stole a late point as his effort flicked the crossbar late on but Shrewsbury held on for the win.
