Stevenage manager Alex Revell bemoaned a “missed opportunity” after a mistake gifted Plymouth an equaliser in their 1-1 League One draw.
Revell saw his side take the lead after 53 minutes through Luther Wildin, only for an error from Harvey White to present Malachi Boateng with a leveller 15 minutes later.
White failed to clear a poor free-kick, allowing Caleb Watts to pick up the loose ball and square for Boateng to fire home.
Revell, whose side would have gone fourth with victory, said: “Ultimately, if you make a mistake that costs you a goal, then what you do is you give them oxygen, they then grow back into the game.
“After that we had moments to go and get a winner and we didn’t take them.
“We’re sitting here now and it’s absolutely a missed opportunity for us to get three points.
“Unfortunately, you can’t do anything about mistakes, you can’t plan for them, but there was no danger at all.
“And we make a mistake from someone who’s been a superb player for us this season.
“He’s made a mistake and he’s openly admitted that, but unfortunately, at the moment, when we make those mistakes, we’re getting punished.
“I didn’t feel (they were going to score). I didn’t feel they were troubling us in the second half and it was all us.
“We feel that it absolutely is two points dropped because of our second-half performance.
“That second half is who we are, that’s our go-to and we have to make sure that when we turn up to games, that’s who we are and that’s how we play.”
Plymouth remain in the bottom four but have now lost just once in the last six games and boss Tom Cleverley was pleased to see them hit back after going behind.
“There wasn’t much in it in the main and I think, if you look at the game, a point each is a fair result,” he said.
“We were much the better side in the first half, we limited them to one shot on our goal.
“But we knew they’d come out and react. They’re not in their league position for no reason.
“And we didn’t match their intensity after half-time, whether that’s the games catching up with us and a lack of rotation possibly. We’ve got a really small squad with all the injuries, but we need to cut that out.
“But to go behind here against a team who are very good at limiting chances and to come back and get something was really pleasing.”
