Aaron Pressley’s second-half double ensured Walsall kept hold of top spot in League Two as they came from behind to claim a 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers.
Striker Pressley struck twice in nine minutes to turn around the fortunes of the hosts, who had left themselves with plenty to do following a lacklustre opening half.
The Pirates started brightly and took a deserved 27th-minute lead when Fabrizio Cavegn turned inside the area and fired home.
But home boss Mat Sadler made two changes to his midfield at half-time and the hosts found their feet.
They drew level with 20 minutes to go when former Aston Villa trainee Pressley rose to meet Vincent Harper’s superb cross from the left.
Sadler continued to swap and change his substitutes and it paid off when Albert Adomah’s deep left-wing cross was recycled on the right.
Connor Barrett advanced into the area and his clever pass found Pressley who slipped the ball under goalkeeper Luke Southwood to record the Saddlers’ sixth victory in their last seven outings.
