Plenty of future hope for Eyecatcher Rock

George Boughey will hope to find Hopewell Rock an opportunity to win again before the season is out following a frustrating reverse on the opening day of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster.

Unbeaten in two juvenile starts, the New Bay colt did not make his three-year-old debut until last month and while he met with defeat for the first time on his Newbury comeback, there was plenty of promise in his third-place finish.

Hopes were high ahead of his latest assignment on Town Moor and while after being delivered late he was unable to reel in the front-running Devil’s Advocate, he confirmed the impression there is more to come from him over this mile and a quarter and possibly further.
